There are a number of ways to get involved with NBDC. Here is a more complete overview of all our different opportunities:
Every day the day center has 3 shifts with 2 volunteers spots.

During each shift you can sign up to be a volunteer in the dining room or the living room. In addition to showing up and spending time getting to know our guests, some tasks for each space include:
Dining Room Volunteer
Supervise the kitchen and dining room.
Assure that kitchen is kept running smoothly and that guests are getting what they need.
Serve snacks and assure that volunteers who bring meals are directed.
Supervise the set-up and clean-up of food.
Communicate with staff when needed.
Family Room Volunteer
Supervise the schedule for laundry and showers.
Assure that guests have the supplies needed.
Help keep the area tidy and supervise cleaning.
Oversee use of computers and play area.
Children’s Playtime Support
Bring a craft, game or books to share with our young guests. Timing is flexible as long as you avoid the 5:30 - 6:30 PM dinner hour. This is a great activity to do as a volunteer group!
4 volunteers needed from 12:30 - 1:30 PM, Monday.
Cleaning needs include:
Vacuum the living and dining areas.
Run a couple of loads of laundry (towels and bathrobes).
Clean the showers and restock with toiletries.
Help organize and clean supplies and storage areas.
We are now transporting families from NBDC to the Overnight Shelter, which is at Overlake Presbyterian Church at 1836 156th Ave NE in the Crossroads area of Bellevue. We are looking for volunteers willing to drive the program van. The van will take no more than two trips nightly, leaving NBDC at 7:15 and 8:15 PM. Driver must be an approved volunteer (completed background check, application and orientation). In addition, drivers must submit copies of their insurance, driver license and driver abstract.
